Insurance and bog protection projects receive renowned Climate Solutions Award
The UN Climate Change Secretariat will honour two international climate projects that are supported by the Federal Environment Ministry. Both projects will receive the ‘Momentum for Change’ Climate Solutions Award. One award recognises the work of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII), which helps people prepare for the consequences of climate change. The second award-winning project is Rewetting the peat bogs of Russia, PeatRus for short, which offers great potential for affordable and natural solutions for climate action.

At the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the global NDC Partnership is celebrating its first anniversary and welcoming new members: the Asian and Caribbean Development Banks announced that they would join the NDC Partnership. Frank Bainimarama, Prime Minister of Fiji and President of COP 23, announced the creation of a Regional Pacific NDC Hub in the framework of the Partnership to facilitate NDC implementation. The NDC Partnership supports emerging economies and developing countries in translating the provisions of the Paris Agreement into national climate action plans, known as nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

The German government opened the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn by announcing an additional 100 million euros to support developing countries in climate change adaptation.
